The Boys are Back on DVD

Jacket: "[This is a] heartwarming and uplifting drama about a man who is suddenly thrust into the role of single parent. Successful sportswriter Joe Warr (Owen) finds himself completely unprepared to raise his rambunctious 6-year-old son Artie - and juggle the challenges of a demanding job, running a household and the possibility of romance. Determined to bring joy back into their lives, he develops a revolutionary approach to parenting - no rules, no chores. It's a home filled with love and chaos - and then Joe's estranged teenage son comes for a visit."

Although inspired by a true story, this is a lukewarm family film.

Did You Hear About the Morgans?

Wait for this to appear on TV when you have nothing better to watch. These two lost their touch on this boring film.

Into the Storm on DVD

Jacket: "For five years, Prime Minister Winston Churchill guided his beleaguered nation through the crucible of WWII, playing perhaps the single most important role in thwarting Nazis. As he stood fearlessly in the spotlight of the world's stage, his intrepid leadership and rhetoric inspired millions of Britons and other members of the free world to fight Hitler's Germany to the bitter end. So why did the country he held so dear turn its back on him after the Allied victory?

Continuing the story of Churchill told in the HBO film, The Gathering Storm, the Emmy Award-winning Into the Storm offers an intimate look at the making of a nation's hero, when Churchill was at his most commanding and effective. The film shows how his prowess as a great wartime leader ultimately undermined his political career and threatened his marriage to his wife and lifelong supporter, Clementine."

This is worth checking out, especially for the history buffs.

Leap Year

I was very bored until Matthew Goode appeared. And then I got a little more interested in the film. Wait for the rental!

The Invention of Lying on DVD

Jacket: "In a world where the human race never evolved the ability to lie, a man who suddenly discovers how will change the world.  With this superpower, he can get anything he wants. well, nearly everything."

I'm still waiting for them to invent an interesting story.

Jacket: "... Just as the G-Force - an elite team of highly trained guinea pigs - is about to save the world, the F.B.I. shuts the secret unit down. But these next-generation action heroes - Darwin, loyal team leader; Blaster, weapons expert with attitude to spare; Juarez, drop-dead gorgeous martial arts diva; and tag-along Hurley - won't be stopped. Armed with the latest in high-tech spy equipment, and with the F.B.I. on their tails, the fur flies as they race against the clock to save the world."

This is a funny, furry, family film.

Crazy Heart

The harder the life, the sweeter the song.

Washed-up, 57-year-old Big Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) is left to singing in divey bars and bowling alleys.

Sometimes you have to really hit rock-bottom before you change your ways. And it is in those struggles, those bleak, hard times, when something beautiful can be created.

Winner: Best Actor (Golden Globes) (SAG Award); Best Original Song (Golden Globes)

I see an Oscar nod here. See this film! Get the soundtrack!

Sherlock Holmes

I'm a fan of Guy Ritchie's films, save one, and I was initially surprised how Hollywood this was, but I quickly got over it and enjoyed it for what it was. For those who had to read Holmes' stories as a kid, you knew too that Moriarty was pulling the strings. I really liked that bit.

Wikipedia: "When Guy Ritchie finished the movie, he discussed a sequel with the production team. Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law and other cast members also signed up to a possible sequel. Ritchie has started to write the story and pre-production begins on March 21, 2010. Sherlock Holmes 2 is a possible title for the film, which will help to cement the new Sherlock Holmes franchise. It is rumored that Brad Pitt might play the role of Professor Moriarty.[20]

Now that'd be interesting!
